BEARSSSSSS - LATEST CHICAGO BEARS NEWS & UPDATES
Winning a trade, after all, means nothing unless you win a championship.
Every single Bears player participated in practice Monday — except for receiver Rome Odunze, who left practice Thursday after appearing to injure the same right foot that hampered him last year.

POLISH SAUSAGE - NEWS FROM AROUND THE NFL
The veteran wide receiver, who signed a three-year, $36 million contract last season, is out.
Slayton spent seven seasons in New York, the longest tenured Giants player before his release. He was a fifth-round pick of the Giants in 2019.

2026 Bears 2nd string vs 2022 starters (0ffense)
I am curious now, who is better? I'm assuming that the LT is Ozzie, and Jones is #2 until he's healthy
2026- O Line: B. Jones, McFadden, Jones, Newman, Benedet
2022 - O line: B. Jones, Whitehair, Patrick, Jekins, Borom
2026 advantage - It might be slight. 2022 B.Jones is better than 2026 B. Jones, but I'll take McFadden over whatever was left of Whitehair, the rookie over Patrick, and Benedet over Borum. 2022 Jenkins was good, but his health was so limited I'd almost have to call it a push.
2026 QB: Tyson Bagent
2022 QB: Justin Fields
2026 advantage - I'm not part of Bagent- mania here. But I'll take a disciplined QB with short field accuracy over a panicked runner.
2026 RB: Kyle Monongai
2022 RB: David Montgomery
2022 advantage: I like Monongai, but Montgomery is simply a more complete player. Neither has top end speed, but Monty is a weapon in the passing game both as a blocker and receiver.
2026 WR: Thomas, Raymond, Walker
2022 WR: Mooney, St Brown, Pringle
2026 advantage: This is pretty clear to me. 2022 Mooney might be the best guy listed, but St Brown and Pringle were issues. The 2026 group is more well rounded by far.
2026 & 2022TE: Kmet
Push- The 2022 version was less knowledgeable, but seemed more physical. Either way I don't think the difference is enough to matter.
Overall: This might sound crazy, but I think the 2026 backups are the better team. I don't think they are a playoff team or going to make a ton of noise, but thrust both lineups into a 17 game schedule, and I think 2026 (with all else equal, including coaching) still comes away with 3-4 more wins.
Thoughts? Have another group you want to pit against this year's backups?
THE DAILY SPONGIE SPECIAL
Your daily song that generally, though not always, has some vague association with the news of the day. Let us know in the comments below if you figure it out. PS: Spongie was the second-longest-serving Denmaster here at WCG, and he started the tradition of the daily songs, so we honor his memory. And no, he’s not dead.
