Liverpool FC have announced that Turkish Airlines will become the club’s new main shirt sponsor from the 2027-28 season, bringing an end to Standard Chartered’s long-running spell on the front of the famous Reds shirt.
The new partnership will officially begin on 1 June 2027, with Turkish Airlines branding appearing on the front of Liverpool’s men’s, women’s and Academy match shirts from the beginning of the 2027-28 campaign.
It represents a major change to the appearance of the Liverpool shirt, with the club having worn Standard Chartered branding since the beginning of the 2010-11 season.
Turkish Airlines To Replace Standard Chartered On Liverpool Shirts
Standard Chartered will remain Liverpool’s main club partner throughout the 2026-27 season, meaning the company’s logo will continue to feature on the club’s shirts for one final campaign.
From 2027-28, however, Turkish Airlines will take over the prominent front-of-shirt position.
The change will be Liverpool’s first new main shirt partner in 17 years, making the 2027-28 Liverpool kits particularly significant for shirt collectors and supporters.
Standard Chartered will not completely end its association with Liverpool. The company will instead become a global partner of the club from June 2027, continuing a relationship that has accompanied some of Liverpool’s biggest successes of the modern era.
A New Look For The Liverpool 2027-28 Kits
For football shirt fans, the announcement immediately raises interest in how the Liverpool 2027-28 home, away and third shirts will look with Turkish Airlines branding.
Sponsor logos can become closely associated with particular eras of a club’s history, and Standard Chartered has become a familiar part of Liverpool shirts over almost two decades.
Turkish Airlines will therefore give the 2027-28 collection an instantly different identity.
The airline is one of the most recognisable international brands in world football and sport, and its branding will now occupy one of the most high-profile sponsorship positions in the game.
Liverpool described the front of their shirt as holding a special place in the history of the club, with the Turkish Airlines agreement beginning a new chapter for the Reds both commercially and visually.
Liverpool And Turkish Airlines Have A 2005 Connection
Interestingly, Liverpool also referenced 2005 when announcing the new partnership.
The connection comes from one of the greatest nights in Liverpool’s history, with the club famously winning the 2005 UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul after coming from 3-0 down against AC Milan before eventually winning on penalties.
With Turkish Airlines operating from its Istanbul hub, the partnership creates an interesting link between the new sponsor and a city already permanently associated with Liverpool Football Club.
End Of An Era For Liverpool Shirts
Standard Chartered first appeared on Liverpool shirts in 2010, replacing Carlsberg and becoming only the latest in a relatively small number of brands to occupy the front of the Liverpool shirt over the modern sponsorship era.
Its departure from the shirt after the 2026-27 season will therefore represent a genuine end of an era.
For collectors, it could also make both the final Standard Chartered Liverpool shirts of 2026-27 and the first Turkish Airlines Liverpool shirts of 2027-28 particularly interesting additions to Liverpool shirt history.
The exact designs of Liverpool’s 2027-28 kits remain to be seen, but we now know one major detail: Turkish Airlines will be across the front of them.
After 17 years of Standard Chartered, Liverpool shirts are about to get a very different look.
