‘All of them’: Huge Dearden claim as ‘ridiculous’ truth on Origin star’s future revealed The Tom Dearden saga refuses to go away. I was able to get out and address the rumours, that was me being able to tell my side of the story,” Dearden said on Monday. “I can understand where the rumours come from, I have a partner who is pregnant and lives in Sydney. So, I see where it all comes from. “But I think it was important to let all the Cowboys supporters know that I am not going anywhere. I’m signed there and I’m happy as can be up there.” While Dearden has attempted to put speculation to bed on multiple occasions, CODE Sports reporter David Riccio stated the whispers have been impossible to ignore since the start of the year. “This story and murmurs about Tom Dearden’s future have been around since February,” Riccio said on NRL 360. “This is the story that hasn’t gone away the entire season, no matter what the Cowboys have attempted to do. They’ve tried to mediate the situation. NRL 360 co-host Braith Anasta added that even when Dearden has tried to shut down the speculation, he has done little to silence the ongoing whispers, claiming his management have sounded out clubs in the past. “Even Dearden tried to squash it,” Anasta said. “It was ridiculous, pretty much to the media, but I know for a fact his management had sounded at clubs. “It is a big story because it is Tom Dearden and he has sounded out Sydney clubs. It’s not been made up out of nowhere. You can’t squash it.” With his management previously looking around to see if rivals were interested, Riccio was asked how widespread the interest could be in his services if he were to become available. This prompted the prominent reporter to say that virtually every Sydney club would explore whether they could accommodate him, or even shake up their roster to make room for the Queensland Maroons sensation. “All of them (would be interested),” Riccio said. “I don’t think it got that far (in the past but) I think every Sydney club would have looked at their roster and seen how they could fit Tom Dearden in. “This guy’s a superstar. He’s the reason they’re a chance this Saturday.”
