Everton would reportedly only consider a move for Anthony Martial if Thierno Barry suffers an injury in the coming weeks. Martial has been linked with the Toffees since the transfer window closed and is available on a free transfer after leaving Monterrey in June. But a fresh report on Tuesday morning suggests there are currently no plans to offer the former Manchester United striker a contract. Everton stance on Martial According to Football Insider, Everton would only look to move for Martial if an injury to Barry forced David Moyes back into the market. That tallies with reports last week that Everton were planning to stick with what they have rather than sign a free agent. Martial’s name entered the conversation after intermediaries reportedly made clubs in England aware of his availability, including Everton. For now, though, it appears to be going no further than that. Barry is Moyes’ only recognised senior striker after Beto was sold and the proposed move for Folarin Balogun collapsed on Deadline Day. Brennan Johnson and Tyrique George can both fill in through the middle if required, but neither is an out-and-out centre-forward. It leaves Everton walking a fairly obvious tightrope until January.
