Everton have reportedly been offered the chance to sign former Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi following their chaotic end to the summer transfer window. Argentine transfer journalist Germán García Grova reported overnight that Icardi has been offered to the Toffees. The 33-year-old is a free agent following the end of his four-year spell with Galatasaray, so could still be signed despite the transfer window having closed. Icardi offered to Everton It’s a name that catches the eye. We included Icardi among the free-agent strikers Everton could potentially consider after a Deadline Day that left David Moyes painfully short of options through the middle. Beto was allowed to leave, while the proposed move for Folarin Balogun collapsed late in the window. Icardi left Galatasaray this summer having scored 77 goals in 134 appearances during four seasons in Turkey. But there is an important distinction with García Grova’s report, however. He says Icardi has been offered to Everton. That is different from Everton making an approach for the Argentine or deciding they want to sign him. Indeed, it was reported last week that the Toffees were not planning to turn to the free-agent market following their failure to land Balogun. Whether Icardi changes that thinking remains to be seen. But after all the striker drama of Deadline Day, his name can now be added to the Everton conversation. For updates on the Toffees throughout the season, take a look at our LIVE!
