Porto captain Diogo Costa says his side are determined to exploit Manchester City's weaknesses when they meet in the Champions League. City travel to the Estadio do Dragao for their opening match in the league phase of this season’s competition on Tuesday. Costa insists the Portuguese champions will not be fazed and, as well as identifying City’s considerable strengths, they have also earmarked areas they hope to target. Speaking at a press conference, the Portugal goalkeeper said: "We are going to play against one of the best teams. We want to show our DNA. "We are expecting an extremely difficult game, we respect Manchester City – but we are capable of competing. We know our strengths and theirs – as well as their weaknesses, which we want to exploit. "Of course, we have prepared for certain things that City will present us with and we will have to be very focused and make as few mistakes as possible. "Even the smallest mistake is very costly in the Champions League but we are capable, we can compete and we want to show our DNA." Two-time winners Porto, who are returning to the Champions League for the first time since the 2023-24 season, go into the game after making a strong start to their campaign. Francesco Farioli’s side have won their first five matches in the Primeira Liga and are two points clear at the top. The Porto boss, however, acknowledged the scale of the challenge facing his side as they come up against a club that spent more than £400million over the summer. The Italian, who is managing in the Champions League for the first time, said: "We are going to play against one of the best teams in the world, who invested €527m in the last transfer window and more than €3 billion in recent years.
