Team GB's Romell Glave raced to glory in the men's 100m final on an eventful day two of the European Championships in Birmingham. Glave, who was the second fastest qualifier behind Italy's Lamont Marcell Jacobs, took home the gold, crossing the line in a time of 10.09 seconds. Fellow Briton Jeremiah Azu took the silver as he finished in a time of 10.16 with Germany's Owen Ansah in the bronze medal position. Jacobs could only manage a seventh place finish in the end, pulling up on the home straight. There was further drama in the final of the women's 100m hurdles, with Netherlands' Nadine Visser taking the gold medal at a time of 12.668 seconds, as Pia Skrzyszowska was narrowly pipped by three hundreths of a second. Laeticia Bapte of France finished third. In the field finals of the evening, there was victories for Bence Halasz of Hungary in the men's hammer throw and Greece's Miltiadis Tentoglou in the men's long jump. Halasz' world leading throw of 84.25 metres made him a comfortable winner with Merlin Hummel of Germany and Mykhaylo Kokhan of Ukraine taking silver and bronze. Tentoglou also had wiggle room with his winning jump of 8.44 metres enough to see him past Switzerland's Simon Ehammer and Bulgaria's Bozhidar Saraboyukov.
