Allister MacSorley finished seventh and Steven McGowan placed tenth as Ireland recorded two further top-ten finishes on the opening day of road race action at the 2026 UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships in Huntsville, Alabama. Both men completed five laps of the 13.8 km circuit, covering 69.0 km in demanding conditions. Huntsville was under a National Weather Service Heat Advisory on Sunday, with temperatures reaching approximately 37 degrees. MacSorley crossed the line in 1:39:56 in the men's H4 road race, finishing 24 seconds behind Great Britain's Callum Russell, who won the world title in 1:39:32. MacSorley's seventh place followed his ninth-place finish in Friday's individual time trial. McGowan completed the men's H3 road race in 1:39:53, just four seconds behind France's Johan Quaile, who took gold in 1:39:49. McGowan finished tenth in a tightly contested field of 21 riders, adding another top ten result to the seventh place he secured in the individual time trial on his World Championship debut.
