Tongala product and number one pick Harley Reid has picked up another accolade in his young AFL career, earning his first club champion award. Reid won the John Worsfold Medal as West Coast’s best player in 2026 on Friday at the club’s awards evening. He polled 260 votes across 23 matches this season, beating out closest competition Jake Waterman with 209. The former Tongala junior averaged 24.6 disposals, 13.4 contested possessions and 6.6 clearances, making him one of the leading clearance midfielders in the competition, his third since being drafted number one in 2023. The John Worsfold Medal is voted on by the five-member West Coast match committee, with each member able to cast a maximum of four votes for every player each match. Despite Reid’s strong campaign, West Coast continued to struggle for wins in 2026, recording a 4-19 record. Reid will miss the first two games of 2027 through suspension, sanctioned for a dangerous tackle on Hawthorn’s Jai Newcombe in the last round of the season.
