Tremain worked for the Melbourne-based team from 2016-2024, taking over the team principal role from Erebus CEO Barry Ryan in the last of those seasons. He returns to the position after a two-year stint in IndyCar with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and said he’s come back wiser for the experience. “Being in America, I’ve seen a different side of motorsport with big teams and big budgets and I’ve seen where their resources could be used more effectively,” Tremain said. “In the past, I focused more on the cars and working on the cars, whereas this time around I’m going to put more of my focus on the people running them. “Improving car speed and reliability, getting the crew together and lifting morale will be my priority for the remainder of the year.” Ryan trumpeted Tremain’s impending return in late July and has welcomed the Kiwi back to his adopted home. “It is always nice when someone you like and respect comes home,” Ryan said. “Brad is one of the most passionate racers I know. He has all the skills needed to run a race team, with mechanical, engineering and management experience gained largely during his eight years with Erebus. “I know the skills he has learned during his recent time in IndyCar racing will make him an even bigger asset to Erebus. “Brad will be the best team principal in pit lane but also someone that is willing and able to do pit stops if required, his versatility is unquestionable.” Tremain said he did not hesitate to rejoin the team, which is currently in a rebuilding phase with young drivers Cooper Murray and Jobe Stewart. “Erebus is my home,” he said. “Baz is a really good mate of mine and I want to go racing with him and the rest of the crew again. And l just love Supercars.” Erebus will field co-drivers Lochie Dalton and Jarrod Hughes alongside Murray and Stewart respectively in the AirTouch 500 at The Bend and Repco Bathurst 1000.
