Hutton said: “It looks like we're now after someone from Villa, Kosta Nedeljkovic. I spoke to John (McGinn) earlier about him, because he's not played that much at Villa at this point in time, but I was just asking what's he like. He said he’s a good guy, very athletic, quick, can get up and down the pitch. He sounds like everything that you need in the right back, but again, he's young, there'll be a lot of pressure on his shoulders coming up to perform, so he'll have to deal with that.” Coming through the academy ranks at Red Star Belgrade, Nedeljkovic has experience playing for a side where domestic success is the bread and butter. He made his Villa debut as an 18-year old and has played on a sporadic basis since. Defender has been a mainstay at the back for the Serbia National Team since his debut in August 2024. Right back is an area Rangers have identified as needing strengthened - especially after losing former club captain James Tavernier after 11 years of service. Manager Derek McInnes brought in former Aberdeen ally Ross McCrorie in from Bristol City as his first signing of the summer, to add to utility man Dujon Sterling, who’s preferred position is right back. However, in their opening games Rangers have looked vulnerable in this area. Hutton on where Rangers need to strengthen A poor start of two defeats and a draw for the new gaffer highlights there’s still plenty of work to be done in the window yet. Rangers have made nine signings so far, however McInnes and Chairman Andrew Cavenagh have hinted there’ll be several more between now and Deadline Day. Hutton went onto identify the areas Rangers still need to bolster. He continued: “They (Rangers) need a right-back. I think they need left-back cover, in my opinion, because you've only got (Tuur) Rommens.
