Player Ratings - Jordan Pickford – 4 A difficult afternoon for Pickford, who could arguably have done better with both goals. Benjamin Šeško's header was hit relatively close to him, while Bryan Mbeumo's strike was not particularly close to the corner. He will be disappointed not to have done more to keep either effort out. - Merlin Röhl – 4 Röhl struggled throughout the game, particularly when up against the pace and movement of Marcus Rashford. However, he did produce a quality cross for Thierno Barry, which could easily have resulted in an assist. - James Tarkowski – 5 Produced an unbelievable tackle on Matheus Cunha to prevent the forward from tapping the ball into an open net. However, Tarkowski found the matchup increasingly difficult once Benjamin Šeško was introduced, with the striker's physicality and movement causing problems for Everton's defence. - Jarrad Branthwaite - 7 A relatively quiet afternoon for Branthwaite, who did what was required of him when called upon. He made several important blocks to deny Bruno Fernandes, but otherwise had little to deal with and was largely untroubled throughout the game. - Vitaliy Mykolenko – 5 Mykolenko struggled to contain Bryan Mbeumo throughout the afternoon, with the winger's pace causing him problems. He was beaten too easily for United's opening goal and never really found a way to deal with Mbeumo's threat. - James Garner – 5 A difficult afternoon for Garner, who was unusually sloppy in possession and made several uncharacteristic errors. He struggled to impose himself on the game before being forced off with an injury. He was tidy in possession and looked dangerous going forward, but lacked the quality he is capable of producing when shooting from the edge of the penalty area. - Tyrique George – 7.5 George produced an excellent recovery tackle to prevent a dangerous two-on-one situation involving Bryan Mbeumo from becoming even more threatening. He then delivered when Everton needed him most, unleashing a stunning strike into the near post late on to bring his side level and help earn a valuable point. - Thierno Barry – 4.5 Barry had a good opportunity early on but chose to go down rather than stay on his feet, ultimately failing to win the penalty. He should have done better from a superb Merlin Röhl cross later in the game, although his excellent footwork nearly created a goal before a well-timed tackle from Luke Shaw denied him. Substitutes - Jack Grealish - 7 Grealish looked lively every time he got on the ball and played a key role in Everton's comeback. His ability to drive forward forced Manchester United to drop deeper, helping the Toffees build pressure as they searched for an equaliser. He lacked the final product at times, but it was an excellent cameo on his return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. - Hayden Hackney – 6.5 Hackney provided the assist for Tyrique George's equaliser, showing good awareness to pounce on the loose ball before producing a perfectly weighted lay-off for the winger to finish. He had a few moments where he lacked the cutting edge in the final third, but there were plenty of encouraging signs, and he should continue to develop during his first Premier League season. - Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 8.5 Many Everton fans were unhappy with the club's decision to sign Maitland-Niles, but he could hardly have made a better first impression. Introduced from the bench, the new right-back delivered an excellent performance, looking tidy in possession and consistently positive when going forward. A Dramatic Late Equaliser He combined particularly well with Tyrique George, while his ability to drift inside helped Everton maintain pressure and pin Manchester United back. Then, with virtually the last kick of the game, Maitland-Niles produced a moment to remember, curling a stunning effort into the top corner to earn Everton a dramatic equaliser — his first goal in eight years. Everton remain unbeaten after three games, with two dramatic late equalisers rescuing points alongside an opening-day victory. While there is still plenty for David Moyes to work on, the Toffees have shown plenty of character and resilience in the early stages of the season. They will now look to build on their promising start when they travel to face a struggling Tottenham Hotspur side next weekend.
