Everyone across the football universe was left stunned by the outcome of Saturday night’s game between the No. 16 Michigan Wolverines and Western Michigan Broncos — including former New Orleans star running back Mark Ingram II. The Wolverines were a huge favorite to win that game, with sportsbooks making them a favorite by nearly 30 points entering the contest. But the Broncos defied expectations and came awfully close to pulling off a stunner for the ages. Still, they suffered a tough 13-12 loss at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, thanks in large part to a call that was overturned, which gave the home team another second to try to pull off a miracle. Down by five points with a second remaining in regulation, the Wolverines, in their first game under head coach Kyle Whittingham, saw quarterback Bryce Underwood connect with JJ Buchanan in the end zone for a Hail Mary touchdown. Right after Underwood’s touchdown pass, fans stormed the field, while others online flooded social media timelines with intense reactions to the wild ending. Ex-Saints RB Ingram Couldn’t Believe Ending of Wild Michigan Win Ingram, who played 10 seasons for the Saints and three with the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, couldn’t resist posting a profane message on X (formerly Twitter) to express his disapproval of the way the game ended. “Somebody gotta go to jail for this [expletive],” the three-time Pro Bowler Ingram wrote. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star running back seemingly believes that Michigan should not have given another second after Underwood initially missed on a Hail Mary attempt. But there is only so much spectators like Ingram can do. For now, that victory by the Wolverines will be, at the very least, fodder for heated takes in the next several days.
