West Ham United have been seriously linked with AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott for over a week. The Hammers are looking for players who can help them return to the Premier League, and the Ireland international is a target. Parrott has developed well since joining the Eredivisie side from Tottenham Hotspur in 2024. He’s managed 51 goals and 17 assists from 96 matches, of which 31 goals and 12 assists were last season. His performances caught the attention of several clubs, with West Ham the most prominent. The 25-year-old had been on five loan moves prior to that. Return to English football has been expected Earlier this month, Troy Parrott was asked about leaving AZ Alkmaar and a return to English football. “I can’t really give a sensible answer to that. Before I went to the Netherlands, I was completely focused on England. I dreamed of the Premier League. But once in the Netherlands, I discovered that the football world is a lot bigger than England.” West Ham won’t be able to fulfil that Premier League dream in the coming season, however, the Hammers have a good chance of promotion. On what he’d miss at AZ, Parrott said: “The dressing room and the lads, most certainly. They made sure I play football with a smile on my face again. AZ, for giving me that chance. The fans were amazing. But I will also miss Amsterdam, where I live.” Initial West Ham offer rejected Voetbal International, one of the top football sources in the Netherlands, reports West Ham have seen their initial offer rejected. There’s no figure attached to that. The Hammers offer didn’t come close to what AZ are asking for, with the Dutch club wanting around €20m. West Ham are now preparing their second offer for Troy Parrott.
