Jeff Stelling drops sensational Leeds United prediction live on talkSPORT

Leeds United are busy preparing for their second season back in the Premier League. The Whites are set to take on their bitter rivals Manchester United on Wednesday in Dublin in the penultimate game of their pre-season preparations. Under Daniel Farke, Leeds enjoyed an incredible second half to last season. Their form has even carried over into pre-season. I know they’re only friendlies, but the fact we have defeated Sunderland, Liverpool and RB Leipzig is a positive sign ahead of the new campaign. Thanks to the arrivals of Harry Wilson, James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic, the ceiling of our squad has been raised tremendously as well. This has seemingly given Jeff Stelling the confidence to make a sensational prediction regarding Leeds next season. Jeff Stelling tips Leeds for a mid-table finish next season Obviously, with the transfer window still open for another couple of weeks, there could be plenty of potential transfers that could influence pundits’ opinions. However, live on talkSPORT, Stelling gave us his predicted Premier League table. Stelling predicts that Arsenal will retain their title. But more importantly, he believes that Leeds will avoid the drop and continue to establish themselves as a Premier League side. Stelling believes that Hull, Fulham and Ipswich will be the three teams that go down. Notably, he predicts Leeds will finish 11th. I’m sure if you offered that to any supporter outside Elland Road before a ball was kicked, they’d bite your hand off. However, for as much as I love Stelling’s enthusiasm, I’m not sure if I quite agree with him just yet. Leeds need more depth before we can push up the Premier League table Whilst our starting XI on paper looks extremely solid, we do lack depth, particularly in the forward areas. We are only a couple of injuries away from Farke deploying Brenden Aaronson and Dan James as our wingers in the top flight. This is nowhere near good enough to finish mid-table. Ultimately, as long as we survive, I’ll be happy. But if the 49ers do want to finish comfortably in mid-table, they will need to sign that striker, attacker and left-back cover they are reportedly looking at. As well as another goalkeeper and centre-back if Sebastiaan Bornauw leaves. In all honesty, I heavily doubt we will make all these moves before the new season starts. But sometimes it’s easy to forget that our squad cannot be perfect. It is only our second season back in the top flight. With our current squad, we should have enough to survive relatively comfortably. But we need a strong end to the transfer window if we really want to fly up the table next season.
