‘They’re gonna change the score’: All-time country footy drama as result of final flipped post-siren
An incorrectly recorded behind has seen the result of a country footy final overturned after the final siren in dramatic scenes.
Warragul and Wonthaggi appeared to be headed for extra-time in the Gippsland League semi-final, after Warragul kicked four goals to one in the final quarter, and the siren blew with both teams level on 82 points.

However as sides prepared for the additional period the goal umpires were seen conferring in the middle of the ground, double-checking their records.
“Oh no. Have we missed something? The goal umpires are waling across to the scoreboard?!” the commentator said.
“This could be decided by the goal umpires and the scorers, because the scoreboard might be wrong here!”
It appeared a mistake was made during the fourth quarter when a rushed behind was incorrectly counted after free kick was paid in the goal square against the Wonthaggi forward.
The goal umpires declared Wonthaggi had been incorrectly assigned a fourth behind, leaving them on 13.3 (81) to Warragul’s 12.10 (82).
That saw Warragul - featuring former Sydney, GWS and Carlton player Jed Lamb - heading into a preliminary final against Leongatha.
“They’re gonna change the score I think! And they have! OH MY GOODNESS, WOWEE, WARRAGUL HAVE WON IT!” the commentator said.
His co-commentator could be heard saying: “13.3, where did that go?
“PlayHQ actually had them as 81, but the scoreboard said 82!”
