Schira: Galatasaray plot September move to lower Milan's demand for Leao

Galatasaray aren’t willing to meet the asking price that AC Milan have set for Rafael Leao, but according to a report, they could adopt the strategy to get a better deal.
Leao’s future continues to be a mystery as there hasn’t really been any concrete movement on his departure. In fact, it has even been reported lately that he could stay at the club, which would be very surprising considering his words at the start of the summer.

Galatasaray are supposedly in the race, having held talks above all with the player’s entourage, but Milan’s asking price of €50m remains the stumbling block. The fact that Fenerbahce have seemingly left the race too hasn’t helped.
September move: a last resort
According to Nico Schira, Galatasaray aren’t willing to pay what Milan are asking for their stars, and have thus set sights on three other candidates for the winger position. However, it doesn’t mean that they have completely given up on Leao.
Since the Turkish transfer window closes later than the other windows, they could wait until the start of September to see if Milan are willing to come down at all. Without a reduction, though, they will definitely abandon the race.
It’s similar to what they did with Victor Osimhen back in 2024, as Schira notes, when they signed the striker from Napoli on loan (initially, then they paid €75m).
No matter how this ends, it’s clear that everything should have been handled better from start.
