Rangers braced for second mega Youssef Chermiti transfer bid from Galatasaray after record offer rejected
The Light Blues have already turfed out a £22million offer for the frontman
Rangers have turfed out a record £22m offer from Galatasaray for frontman Youssef Chermiti - but are bracing themselves for the Turkish giants to bid again.
Both the Istanbul outfit and former champs French Lyon have been tracking the Ibrox ace all summer.
Rangers have already fought off several attempts to open up negotiations this summer but this latest package trumps everything that’s been put on the table.
Had it been accepted, it would also have topped the £20m fee the club made when selling Calvin Bassey to Ajax in 2022.
But Gets owner Andrew Cavenagh is digging his heels in and won’t give permission for Portuguese under 21 cap Chermiti to discuss personal terms until he gets what he believes is fair value for the striker who netted 15 goals last term.
Reports in Turkey say Rangers are looking for closer to £30m but sources at Ibrox insist an asking price has not been set.
But the Light Blues’ American owner does believe they can net a substantial profit on a player who cost £9m when moving to Glasgow from Everton last summer.
In the meantime, Rangers are in no rush to sell.
