Celtic’s move for Haissem Hassan is now very close to completion, although an agreement with Real Oviedo has still not officially been reached.
Sources close to Real Oviedo have indicated to CeltsAreHere that the deal is considered almost closed, with an expectation that the remaining details could be finalised as early as Tuesday.
While talks are clearly at an advanced stage, there are still final points to be completed before Hassan can officially be considered a Celtic player.
There is growing confidence around the deal, but those involved remain cautious until everything is fully signed off.
Celtic have been working on the move for the 24-year-old over recent days, with Hassan keen on making the switch to Glasgow.
The proposed transfer is understood to be worth around €6 million.
Villarreal are also set to benefit financially from the deal after retaining a significant stake in Hassan when he moved to Real Oviedo.
CeltsAreHere understands the Spanish club are due to receive €2.4 million from the proposed €6 million transfer.
That would leave Real Oviedo receiving the remaining share of the fee, something which has been part of the financial picture surrounding the negotiations.
Celtic’s initial squad deadline comes on Thursday, although UEFA rules still allow clubs to add up to two additional eligible players before the first leg.
That gives the Hoops some extra breathing room, but they will still want to get Hassan’s move completed as quickly as possible.
The key point for now is that the deal is not officially done.
However, the feeling around Real Oviedo is that it is now very close, with Tuesday viewed as a possible day for the remaining details to be completed.
If that happens, Hassan’s move to Celtic should then move quickly towards its final stages.
