Haissem Hassan is expected to travel to the UK on Tuesday as his proposed move to Celtic enters its final stages.
There remain final steps to complete before Hassan can become a Celtic player, with all parties still cautious until everything is agreed and the necessary medical checks have been completed.
CeltsAreHere was told earlier on Monday that no official agreement had yet been reached between Celtic and Real Oviedo, although the deal was considered “almost closed”.
The expectation from Spain was that the remaining details could be completed on Tuesday.
That picture has now moved on further, with Hassan expected to travel as the transfer approaches the finishing line.
The 24-year-old has been waiting for permission to make the journey while Celtic and Oviedo work through the final parts of the agreement.
The proposed transfer is understood to be worth around £6 million, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the overall package closer to £8.5 million and further benefiting Oviedo.
Hassan has already been left out of Oviedo’s recent squad against Le Havre, with the Spanish club confirming to CeltsAreHere that there was no injury behind his absence.
The winger has been keen on the move to Glasgow throughout negotiations and Celtic are now closing in on getting one of their main attacking targets through the door.
There is still an important note of caution.
Until the final checks are completed and the paperwork is signed, the transfer cannot be considered done.
But barring any late problems, Hassan is now expected to be in the UK on Tuesday as Celtic look to complete the deal ahead of the upcoming Champions League tie vs LASK.
