Real Oviedo boss Julián Calero has spoken about Haissem Hassan’s future as talks continue over a possible move to Celtic. Speaking to the Glasgow Times, Calero made clear that Hassan’s future is not just about what he can offer on the pitch. He said: “We all know him (Hassan) and of course he could have been a good fit, but we also have to consider the club’s finances, the player’s wishes, and offers from other clubs. “We have a salary cap and we were aware that departures were necessary, and he was one of the possibilities. “These are the circumstances, and I have to adapt.” Those comments come at an interesting time with Celtic still working on a deal for the winger. Calero is not talking about Hassan as someone Oviedo must keep. Instead, he accepts that the club’s finances and the player’s own wishes are part of the situation. Hassan’s future has moved quickly over the past week, with Celtic pushing to bring him to Parkhead. Real Oviedo also left him out of their recent squad against Le Havre, with no injury behind his absence. Calero has now also admitted that Oviedo need players to leave because of their salary cap, which adds more context to the situation. For Celtic, Hassan remains one of the most advanced deals they are currently working on. Calero’s comments do not confirm that a transfer is done, but they do make clear why Oviedo are open to letting Hassan leave despite rating him highly. The player’s wishes and Oviedo’s financial position are both playing a part as talks continue. Celtic will now hope the remaining details can be sorted and the move can be completed.
