Match Report: Hearts 4-0 Dundee Utd 09 August 2026 Hearts put in a commanding performance to run out 4-0 winners over Dundee United at Tynecastle Park on Sunday. There was no European hangover in a game the boys in maroon controlled from start to finish, with Tom Renaud and Calvin Miller first-half goals setting the Jambos on their way to victory, complimented by fine second-half strikes from Claudio Braga and Josh McPake. Head Coach Wouter Vrancken made five changes from the side that lost at Benfica during the week. Renaud, Jamie McCart, Josh McPake, Sabah Kerjota and Amadou Ba-Sy all came in with Landry Kabore, Laurent Mendy, Alexandros Kyziridis and Harry Milne all missing out, while Stuart Findlay served a suspension. Hearts started the game like a freight train, racing into an early lead. Renaud opened proceedings with an absolute screamer, rifling a shot into the top corner from all of 25-yards out. Moments later Ba-Sy showed great skill to get away from his man and send a ball into the middle for Oisin McEntee to connect with, his diving header was clawed away from goal by Jack Walton. Two minutes later it was 2-0. McCart was hauled down inside the box following Miller’s corner, and following a VAR review, referee Kevin Clancy pointed to the spot. Miller dusted himself down to send the keeper the wrong way. The woodwork denied Hearts a third half an hour in. Ba-Sy’s powerful drive from distance was pushed away by Walton, but the Jambos kept possession, with the ball moved inside to Braga. The Portuguese’s shot from inside the box came back off Walton’s right-hand post and Renaud had to stretch for the rebound, but could only send it over. A moment of real team quality saw the Jambos make it 3-0, ten minutes into the restart. Playing quick, flowing football up the park, Kerjota llifted the ball into the box for Braga to take a touch before slotting low beyond Walton and into the far corner. It was nearly four moments later when Kerjota danced his way through the Utd defence to go one-on-one with Walton but the keeper came off victorious, blocking the winger’s effort with his body. United had a half chance to pull one back on the hour mark when the ball broke fortuitously to substitute Zac Sapsford inside the box but he couldn’t send his lobbed effort goalward, instead missing the target by several yards. The silky Hearts football kept on coming as did the goals, with a fourth added on 66 minutes. McPake played a neat one-two with Braga inside the box before curling a wonderful right-foot effort into Walton’s left-hand corner. McCart went close to adding a fifth late on, nearly getting on the end of Blair Spittal's ferocious free kick but his ball to the bak door was just too far in front of the defender's head. A dominating performance by the Jambos, who now entertain Benfica at Tynecastle Park on Thursday.
