Falkirk boss John McGlynn pleased with 'much improved' Motherwell draw John McGlynn hailed a “much improved” Falkirk performance after his side earned a point on the road at Motherwell last Sunday. The Bairns needed to bounce back after a 2-0 opening weekend defeat at home to St Mirren, and they did just that in their second Scottish Premiership outing of the season with a clean sheet at Fir Park. And that 0-0 draw also extended Falkirk’s impressive unbeaten run against Motherwell, who couldn’t beat John McGlynn’s side last term despite finishing fourth under ex-boss Jens Berthel-Askou. New manager Alfred Johansson has enjoyed a brilliant start to life in North Lanarkshire, and his team had better of the first half on Sunday afternoon. But the second half was all about the Bairns, and the visitors could have nicked a late winner. Late starter Ethan Ross sent a curling effort just over while debutant Finley Barbrook saw an effort blocked. “I am really happy, there are lots of positives to take from today,” McGlynn beamed. "We wanted an improved performance and we got an improved performance. We showed personality and character. We want clean sheets. We rode our luck on one or two ocassions. "We had to work really hard and that is what we didn’t do last weekend. We didn’t do the basics hard enough. Today we hung in there against a team who passed the ball well. "And in the second half, as the game went on, we grew and grew. Of course, Motherwell had played in Europe so that was to be expected. We could have won the game. "I’m pleased with the overall performance. Finley Barbrook and Ben Krauhaus were both excellent in the middle of the pitch.” Summer signing Joe Gardner was set to start the match but he was forced to pull out after picking up a groin strain the warm-up. He was replaced by Ross, who was one of Falkirk’s top performers. McGlynn said: "It didn’t go for us today with injuries, Joe was going to start. We felt he was going to be okay. Finn (Yeats) aggravated his ankle issue and had to come off at half time.”
