Bayern Munich drew 0-0 against Schalke 04 in the second matchday of the Bundesliga, in a game marked by the Bavarians inability to find the back of the net, and for a highlight performance by Schalke’s goalkeeper Loris Karius.
Vincent Kompany finds positives despite Bayern Munich draw against Schalke 04
The Bayern coach is trying to rescue something out of the frustrating draw.
In a postgame interview, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany lamented his team’s performance, while also praising Schalke’s resilience. “Every game has its own story. Today, unfortunately the story was that we couldn’t score. That takes nothing away from Schalke’s performance. They really fought hard and closed the spaces well,” stated Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
However, for Kompany not everything was entirely bad. The coach was able to find some positives in his team’s performance. “On the other hand, our counter-pressing was exceptional today, we didn’t concede any chances. And we created many clear cut chances against a compact defense, so there are positives as well. In the end the result is as it is. At FC Bayern you can only be happy if you win.”
The good news is that it is only matchday 2, and Bayern has plenty of time to iron out a few things.
