LASK goalkeeper Lukas Jungwirth has warned his teammates they cannot afford to make the same mistakes against Celtic that crept into their latest Bundesliga victory. The Austrian champions have opened their title defence with consecutive league wins and continued their perfect start by beating Austria Wien 2-0 on Sunday. Attention will soon turn towards the Champions League play-off against Celtic, with the first leg at Celtic Park followed by the return meeting in Austria. LASK will face a Hoops attack strengthened considerably during the summer window, with Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran already added to Martin O’Neill’s squad and Haissem Hassan poised to further bolster the forward options. And although Jungwirth did not directly reference Celtic, he acknowledged LASK could be punished by stronger opposition if they repeat some of the shortcomings from their weekend performance. Speaking after Sunday’s win over Wien, a straight-shooting Jungwirth said via Daily Record: “Around the time of the offside goal, we relied too much on possession and weren’t mentally prepared for Austria’s counter-attacks. “We also need to be more clinical at the end; we might be punished for that against other opponents.” There remains plenty of confidence within the LASK camp after they finished ahead of Sturm Graz to claim the Austrian title last season. Jungwirth was ultimately pleased to see his side collect another three points, despite identifying areas that must improve ahead of their European assignment.
