Kasper Høgh’s sensational start to life at Celtic has been recognised with a place in the SPFL Team of the Week. The club-record signing has needed just two Premiership matches to make a huge impression in Scotland. Høgh was dangerous throughout Celtic’s opening-day victory over Dundee, repeatedly finding himself in the right positions but frustratingly unable to find the net. He had chances and got into the positions, but he just couldn’t get that first Celtic goal. Kilmarnock paid the price for that missed shooting practice. Høgh exploded into life at Rugby Park, scoring a first-half hat-trick as Celtic raced into a 3-0 lead before half-time. His three goals came inside just 35 minutes, making it Celtic’s earliest completed league hat-trick since 1988. And it wasn’t just the goals that impressed. Høgh’s movement was again excellent, constantly finding pockets of space inside the Kilmarnock box and giving the home defence a nightmare afternoon. Three goals going on six from the big striker. The Danish striker arrived in Glasgow with huge expectations after Celtic paid a club-record £11 million to sign him from Bodø/Glimt. After a frustrating first outing, he responded in the best possible way. A hat-trick. If this is what happens when he gets his shooting boots on, Celtic supporters will be hoping there are plenty more goals – and plenty more Team of the Week selections – to come.
