MISSOULA — A week after Montana’s season opening thriller, the third-ranked Grizzlies (1-0) play host to the Pioneer League’s Drake Bulldogs (0-1) Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
Montana opened as a 35.5-point betting favorite with an over/under of 57.5 points, according to Sports Bet Montana. The Griz have won 35 consecutive games against non-Big Sky Conference opponents.
Last week, they toughed out a 28-21 win over Southern Utah as a two-touchdown favorite. Drake was favored by 37.5 to 40 points, per advanced analytics, but lost 38-35 against NCAA Division II South Dakota Mines.
Both teams have new head coaches this season and are both coming off FCS playoff appearances — the Grizzlies made it to the semifinals while the Bulldogs fell in the first round.

First quarter
After Montana went three-and-out to open the game, the Griz appeared poised to force a three-and-out, but Drake quarterback Riley Warzynski connected with Willis Nofsinger for a 67-yard pass to the 3-yard line. The defense buckled down and held Drake to a 23-yard field goal by Griffin Kollhoff. It's the first time all season UM has trailed.
