Celtic target Fares Ghedjemis missed Frosinone’s latest pre-season outing, although manager Massimiliano Alvini insists his absence was down to a fitness concern rather than his uncertain future.
The Algerian winger has been linked with both Celtic and Rangers this summer, while Ligue 1 outfit Monaco are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
Frosinone are believed to value the 23-year-old at around £17million, potentially complicating the Hoops’ hopes of bringing him to Celtic Park.
Ghedjemis was not involved as the Serie B side suffered a 2-1 friendly defeat against Lazio on Sunday, but Alvini played down any suggestion that his omission was transfer-related.
Speaking via Daily Record, he said: “Ghedjemis couldn’t play. He had a little problem, and we didn’t risk him, that’s all.
“There’s a lot of movement in the transfer market, it’s a whirlwind, but it’s not a problem. The important thing is that the coach knows how to navigate it. The players arrive and I train them: those who have arrived so far have trained well. The important thing is that the staff and I know how to manage the group. The path we want to take is very clear. We’re ready.”
