Brooke Norton-Cuffy appears to be on his way out of Genoa and Everton might need to take advantage of their position.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered comments from Genoa manager Daniele De Rossi about the right-back. The Italian revealed that he was removed from the club’s recent pre-season friendly because of a possible transfer.
De Rossi didn’t want to take a risk and impact a possible exit from the club.
Interest from Everton found a mention again, with Hull City also in the mix for his signature. More details are now emerging and the Toffees may have to hurry.
Moyes’ side leading the race
Repubblica Genova report it is certain that Norton-Cuffy will leave Genoa. The Italian side demand €20m to sell him and the newspaper believe Everton have a ‘slight advantage’ are currently the leading candidate for his signature.
Hull City did step forward for him but their approach was quickly rejected. This leaves the Toffees as the only recognised suitor in England.
Their task could soon become difficult.
GenoaOggi report that intermediaries have now started to look around for a new club for the Englishman.
This has led to initial contact with AC Milan, who are now evaluating a possible move. Napoli have also become alert to his situation, with Genoa waiting for more formal offers to arrive.
The outlet mention Everton’s interest but send a warning that the situation around the right-back is heating up.
Our take: Time running out
The Player’s entourage is likely frustrated Everton haven’t made a formal move yet. They have been interested for months but the situation could now be slipping out of their hands.
There is a chance the 22-year-old’s valuation rises further. The inclusion of Italian clubs will make sure of that, especially as Milan and Napoli could need a right-back soon.
