Walker spent last term as Graham Alexander’s stopper of choice in League One, although recently saw competition for minutes intensified by the signing of Jon McCracken from Dundee. The Hornets are thought to have lined up a medical for Walker, who would be moving closer to his birthplace Kent with a switch to Vicarage Road. Posting on X, Football Insider reporter Pete O’Rourke said: “Watford have agreed a deal to sign Bradford City goalkeeper Sam Walker with the player having a medical today before finalising his move to Vicarage Road.” Bradford may have signed McCracken earlier in the window, but the loss of Walker would leave them in need of another body in the goalkeeping department. Zac Hadi, a highly-rated young stopper on the club’s books, was recently allowed to join non-league outfit Spennymoor Town on loan. Sam Walker’s value to Bradford City In Walker, Bradford would be losing a valued dressing-room figure as well as a seasoned goalkeeper. When the former Charlton Athletic and Colchester United man penned a new deal at Valley Parade last summer, manager Alexander said: “I am delighted Sam has agreed a new contract to continue with us. “He has played every league game since arriving and has been a model of consistency, both in performance and attitude. “His quiet but respected leadership behind the scenes is a great help to the coaching staff, and we believe he can continue to play to the highest of standards.”
