'Undoubted quality' - Blackpool boss explains why he wanted Middlesbrough youngster Finley Munroe has become Blackpool’s fifth signing of the summer. Ian Evatt believes Blackpool’s latest addition Finley Munroe will progress throughout his time at Bloomfield Road. The left wing-back has joined the Seasiders on a season-long loan from Middlesbrough - whom he has only featured for three times since his January move from Aston Villa. Prior to that, he spent the first half of last season with Swindon Town, with the 21-year-old able to thrive at the County Ground. In 27 appearances for the Robins, he scored two goals and provided nine assists, becoming a key man under ex-Blackpool boss Holloway. Click here “We are delighted to have added Finley to our ranks, providing further quality to our back line ahead of the league campaign kicking off this weekend,” he told the club’s in-house media. “He is someone who has undoubted quality and is keen to progress even further here at Bloomfield Road. “I believe he will be a key player for us on the left-hand side of our team and I can’t wait to start working with him.” Munroe spent time in the academies of both Chelsea and Villa as a youngster, with two senior outings coming his way with the latter. His first-team debut came in a UEFA Conference League meeting with Olympiacos back in May 2024, before being sent out on loan to Real Unión at the start of the following season. Throughout his time in Spain, the defender featured 24 times in total, scoring one goal and providing three assists, which set him up for his first taste of life in the EFL last term. Discussing his move to the Seasiders, he said: “I’ve had some really positive discussions with the gaffer. “The way he wants to play and the ambitions he has for this season really attracted me to the club. I think it’s a good fit for me.”
