Middlesbrough FC 'agree' to loan ex-Aston Villa defender Finley Munroe to League One outfit Blackpool Middlesbrough appear to set to confirm a loan move to Blackpool for a fringe defender Middlesbrough have reportedly agreed to loan defender Finley Munroe to League One outfit Blackpool. The 21-year-old left-back arrived at the Riverside in January, sealing a permanent move from Aston Villa after a seeing his productive loan stint at Swindon Town cut short. He has since made just three senior appearances for Middlesbrough, who have not yet found a place for Munroe in their starting XI. Blackpool ‘agree’ deal to sign Middlesbrough man on loan Blackpool were linked with the defender earlier on in the window, only for talk of a move to quieten. A move to Bloomfield Road now appears to be back on, with Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke having claimed a loan deal has been agreed. Posting on X, he said: “Understand Blackpool have agreed a deal for Middlesbrough defender Finley Munroe on loan. Munroe is having his medical today ahead of joining the Seasiders.” A loan switch to League One could give Munroe the chance to pick up the regular minutes he needs for his development after a period on the fringes of Kim Hellberg’s squad. Middlesbrough gave Munroe a four-and-a-half year contract in January, a clear show of the faith they have in his potential. Finley Munroe’s previous EFL loan spell Munroe impressed in League Two with Swindon last term and the prospect of being an EFL regular once again could prove appealing. Speaking to BBC Radio Wiltshire about the left-back in November, Swindon boss Holloway said: “He's a wonderful lad, what a great strike and that's talent isn't it. “You know, he's just got abundance of it and it's about making him enjoy himself and for as long as we have him I'm delighted that he's here, he feels like he's a Swindon player, you know, the way he loves it all.”
