Carabao Cup draw as Leicester City draw Ipswich Town in Second Round
Leicester City are in tonight's Carabao Cup draw after beating Northampton Town over the weekend
Leicester City will face Premier League side Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup second round following Monday night's draw.
The Foxes sealed their spot in this evening's draw after a narrow 1-0 victory over Northampton Town on Saturday. Caleb Okoli scored the only goal of the game in the first-half to hand Russell Martin a win in his first competitive game in charge.
Their reward is a trip to Portman Road where they will come up against some familiar faces. Abdul Fatawu, Kasey McAteer and George Hirst all play for Gary O'Neil's men.
Conor Chaplin and Wes Burns have both joined the Foxes from Ipswich, meaning they will get to come up against their former teammates and say a proper goodbye to Ipswich supporters.
The clash is set to take place between Burton Albion and MK Dons. An official date will be confirmed by the EFL soon.
Key Events
That's all for this evening. The official date of the second round trip to Ipswich will be announced in due course.
Stay tuned later this week as we hear from Tommy Watson and Russell Martin ahead of the Notts County clash.
On paper, it's not an ideal draw as City will be underdogs against Premier League opposition.
However, it'll be a huge test for Russell Martin's men against a top-flight team. They face Sunderland on the Saturday before travelling to Manchester United after the visit of City.
Ipswich Town vs Leicester City
OK let's see how City face.
A reminder, Leicester City are ball number 11. They could get Chelsea, Coventry, West Ham or Tottenham.
The draw is here, but it's the Northern section first.
Any noticable ties, we will bring to you. But our focus is on Leicester and the Southern.
Right, the draw is coming up next.
Not quite sure if we'll have the Northern or Section first. If it's Northern, we have a wait until Leicester's inclusion.
A 20 minute warning for tonight's draw.
The second round ties are due to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday in that week, but whoever draws Chelsea and Fulham face the possibly of playing on the Thursday.
The two Premier League sides play on the Monday night. That is set to create a major knock-on effect, specifically for EFL sides, with their league games then expected to be moved from the Saturday to the Sunday.
