Cult hero keeper Ravizzoli joins League One rivals Leicester City
The popular Argentine has linked up with the man who brought him to MK Dons
MK Dons cult hero Franco Ravizzoli has reunited with Russell Martin by agreeing a move to Leicester City.
The 29-year-old makes the switch from fellow League One side Blackpool where he made eight appearances last season following his move from Wycombe Wanderers last summer.
"I'm absolutely delighted to be here,” he told Leicester City’s website. “As soon as I heard about the club's interest, I just knew I couldn't turn the opportunity down.
“I feel ready for a new challenge and am really looking forward to working with [Russell Martin] again.”
He continued: “Leicester is a big club with ambitions to be successful again, and I will give everything to help them on that journey.
“I’ve heard great things about the club, the city and the fans so it feels like the right place for me to keep improving.
“I'm looking forward to working hard every day to challenge for a place in the team. I can’t wait to get going.”
The Argentinian goalkeeper shot to fame in Milton Keynes following the departure of Andy Fisher, who Martin had snagged to join his Swansea City team in January 2022, leaving his former club short between the posts ahead of the home game against rivals AFC Wimbledon.
Ravizzoli, who had been brought in by Martin a couple of years earlier as a third choice stopper, kept a clean sheet against the south London side, making a few good saves along the way, earning the man of the match prize while endearing himself to the Dons supporters.
Following the club’s relegation to League Two, he departed for south Buckinghamshire and Wycombe, where he would lock down the number one spot, making more than 50 appearances for the Chairboys before joining Blackpool.
And he could feature against his former club later this month when Leicester visit Milton Keynes on Saturday August 29.
