Although nothing can be guaranteed in the transfer market, Pedersen was pleased with the Tunisian’s performance at the weekend and is hopeful that he will remain at Hillsborough beyond the September 1 transfer deadline. “There is no doubt Yan is a quality player and he is a good player,” Pedersen told The Star when asked how big a boost it would be to keep him beyond the transfer deadline. “So, yes, we are happy that he's here.” Completing 85 minutes of the contest before being forced off with what appeared to be cramp, the former Birmingham City man enjoyed a solid afternoon, winning all three of his attempted tackles, making three clearances, producing two interceptions and winning four of his five ground duels. He also reminded everyone of the technical quality he offers in possession. Offering an update on the prospect of Valery staying at the club ahead of the win over Bolton, Pedersen said last week: “I would love to keep Yan; he is a good player. But let’s see how things develop. “There is no doubt he is a good player and, of course, there will be some clubs that will look at him.
