'Perfect fit' - New £2million West Brom man speaks as James Morrison claim made Albion’s latest addition is ready to hit the ground running after swapping Ligue 1 for the Championship as Baggies further bolster squad ahead of new league season. New signing Rabby Nzingoula is optimistic the Championship is a perfect fit with the style he will bring to Albion. The 20-year-old Frenchman checked in from Strasbourg in his homeland on a three-year contract in a move worth in the region of £2million. France youth international Nzingoula has 16 caps at under-20 level and has made around 50 senior career appearances to date, mostly coming on loans in Montpellier in France and Nurnberg in Germany. The recruit, Albion’s eighth new addition of the summer, is confident he can adjust seamlessly to the physical demands of the Championship - and believes working under former midfielder James Morrison can develop him significantly. “I’m really excited to get playing,” said Nzingoula. “From the games I have seen, it’s clear to see it’s a very good, physical and demanding division. “It’s a really good league and a really tough one too. It has a lot of high intensity, and I think that fits perfectly with my style of play.” Nzingoula joins compatriot Nolan Galves, the right-back signing from Rodez in Ligue 2. French nationals are not common at The Hawthorns as the pair added to Nicolas Anelka, French Guyana-born Marc-Antoine Fortune, Morgan Amalfitano and Yann M’Vila. The midfielder’s arrival further bolsters Albion’s midfield ranks which now look well-stocked ahead of the new Championship campaign. CLICK HERE The pair will compete with Ousmane Diakite, Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby for the places in Morrison’s side. Molumby has been subject to rumours of summer interest, though the head coach did suggest he sees the Irishman as an important squad member. The new boy added: “There are a lot of players with talent here at the club and the head coach has so much playing experience. “I know that he played over 300 games here and I know he was a very good midfielder, so I really believe he can help me and develop me into a much be er player. “I’m really excited to test myself in England and to play in the Championship.” Nzingoula, who is 21 in November, made his senior debut for Strasbourg in February 2024 having checked into the club’s academy two years earlier. He clocked up 14 appearances in total for his former club, including three starts. But much of the athletic midfielder’s experience so far has been on loan away from BlueCo-owned club, whose ownership are also majority shareholders of Chelsea. He played 27 times, 20 as a starter, and netted once for Montpellier in the 2024/25 campaign as Nzingoula’s loan side finished bottom and were relegated from the top flight. He then spent the first half of last season with Strasbourg before a move to the German Bundesliga 2 side Nurnberg, where he was managed by German legend Miroslav Klose. Nzingoula helped Nurnberg to an eighth-placed finish in the second tier. He made 15 appearances, seven as a starter, and netted once.
