Carabao Cup second round draw: Wolves, West Brom and Walsall ties confirmed The Carabao Cup second round draw has been confirmed. West Brom will travel to St James’ Park to face Premier League side Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup second round - while Wolves visit League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday. Walsall will play host to League One side Leyton Orient under the lights at Bescot - with all ties set to be played on the week commencing Monday, August 24. Albion supporters will be racking up the miles that week, with another long trek to Middlesbrough for a lunch-time kick-off set to follow later that week on Saturday, August 29. They face Newcastle, who have undergone a chaotic summer, but famously lifted the trophy under now former head coach Eddie Howe in 2025. Wolves booked their place in the second round with a 3-0 win over Port Vale at Molineux on Friday evening and West Brom followed suit with a 4-1 success at Rotherham United. Adam Armstrong, Andre and Fer Lopez scored all of Wolves’ goals in the first half to provide Cesar Peixoto with a debut win. As for Albion, summer signing Jimmy-Jay Morgan bagged a brace and was joined on the score sheet by youngster Harry Whitwell and fellow new recruit Felix Horn Mhyre. Meanwhile, Walsall pulled off the biggest upset of the first round by beating Championship side Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Thursday night. Aaron Pressley scored the only goal for the Saddlers, as Lee Grant got off the mark in his first competitive game in the dugout.
