Swansea City reject Premier League bid for star striker Zan Vipotnik The Swans have batted away an offer from the Premier League new boys Swansea City have rejected a bid from Premier League new boys Hull City for Zan Vipotnik. The Slovenian's future has been the subject of speculation for much of the summer already, although this appears to be the first time Swansea's resolve has been tested. Vipotnik netted 25 goals in all competitions for Swansea last season, scooping up the Championship's Golden Boot in the process. He has understandably caught the eye of a number of clubs, with newly-relegated West Ham United keeping tabs, while Benfica are also believed to have held initial conversations about a move. WalesOnline understands that bid has fallen short of Swansea's valuation of the player, which is thought to be around £20m. Vipotnik has previously indicated that playing in the Premier League is a future ambition of his, and it seems he would potentially be interested in a move to the Tigers. However, sources have stressed that he is more than happy to stay with the Swans, and there is little sign of him pushing for an exit at this stage. Whether Hull return with an improved offer remains to be seen, but the 24-year-old's future is likely to remain a big talking point heading into the opening game of the Championship against Stoke City at the weekend. Vipotnik's future has come under further scrutiny this week following the club's capture of Ross Stewart, although boss Vitor Matos has insisted the Scot's arrival hasn't had any bearing over the former Bordeaux man's future. "We signed Ross because we believe it was an opportunity for us to catch a player with that right type of profile," he said. "It's nothing related to [Vipotnik] leaving or not. It's just what was a [good] opportunity. "He brings leadership in a position where we needed experience of the league. He offers the same spontaneity in terms of the penalty box that Vipi (Vipotnik) has, he offers the same physicality that Adam can offer as well.
