Feyenoord technical director Dévy Rigaux has insisted that they never received a €30m bid from Nottingham Forest, or anyone else, for Givairo Read this summer. ESPN have an interview with the Feyenoord director this week. He wants to make the situation clear regarding the 20-year-old. Nottingham Forest effort Givairo Read was heavily linked with a move away from Feyenoord throughout the summer. Nottingham Forest were one of those linked. Indeed, they were chasing a deal for much of the window. Various negotiations happened, with Roma in the mix too, but a deal was never agreed with Feyenoord for the sale. Nottingham Forest eventually signed Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace late in the window. Read, for his part, ended up remaining at Feyenoord. Rigaux has already insisted he see that as a signal of strength from the Dutch side. Now he wants to set the record straight on reported bids for his star defender. “I don’t know where that figure (€30m) came from,” he said. “I’d rather not discuss specific amounts, but I can certainly say it wasn’t thirty million. Besides, it wouldn’t have meant we could have immediately reinvested those millions, so that doesn’t really make the difference.” What comes next? The question is what happens next for Givairo Read. He’s staying at Feyenoord for now, but there’s no denying he has plenty of admirers around Europe. The youngster was even clear about his desire to move on. He didn’t push for an exit, or speak out of turn, but he did make it clear that he found the transfer interest from Nottingham Forest exciting. He will, presumably, want another year of progress with the Dutch side. If that continues, it’s very likely that more clubs, and perhaps bigger clubs than Nottingham Forest and Roma, will be ready to make their moves for him.
