Only starting work a month ago, the new Newcastle United boss having overseen two wins and a draw in his opening three competitive United matches. A draw against Liverpool at St James’ Park and then a win over West Brom on Tyneside in the Carabao Cup. Then most recently that excellent 2-0 victory away at Spurs. Matthias Jaissle’s side aiming to make it seven points from a possible nine as they take on Bournemouth at 12.30pm today. As a reminder, this was the Newcastle team v Spurs and subs bench last weekend: Hornicek, Dedic, Thiaw, Botman, Hall, Lewis Miley, Gonzalez, Elanga, Barnes, Willock, Wissa Subs: Jaouen, Schar, Bamba, Steur, Toure, Murphy, Woltemade, Ramsey, Shahar It looks like Osula, Burn and Joelinton will all be missing once again. Maybe a possibility of Tino Livramento returning to the Newcastle United matchday squad today if he is ready. Two players who definitely won’t be in today’s 20 man matchday squad are Nick Woltemade and Leo Shahar, the pair having headed out on loan to Juventus and FC Arouca respectively. There are also claims in the media that Ewen Jaouen has picked up a minor injury in training that could potentially see him not available today against Bournemouth. So Nick Pope could be named in today’s squad. However, Matias Fernandez-Pardo is now set to be part of today’s matchday squad, having signed from Lille. So in my opinion…. This is my predicted Newcastle United team v Bournemouth: Hornicek, Dedic, Thiaw, Botman, Hall, Lewis Miley, Gonzalez, Elanga, Barnes, Willock, Wissa As you can see, I have gone for the exact same eleven that started against Tottenham. Hopefully Tino Livramento will be back today but great now to be in a position where Amar Dedic has arrived and fitted in so well. The keeper and back four did well at Tottenham and I see no chance of a change there, barring injury. The same in central midfield, Lewis Miley looking really good this season and with a full week’s training we can expect hopefully even more from Nico Gonzalez. Wissa and Elanga have both started the season really well and scored the goals last weekend, so they will start. Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes also doing well but only a question now of how soon MFP (Matias Fernandez-Pardo) will be put in the starting eleven. I know Nico Gonzalez went straight into the team last weekend but the new signing from Lille is only 21 and yet to play in the Premier League. I think a toss of the coin whether MFP starts today and if so, whether he would replace Barnes or Willock. A massive bonus that the Belgium international can play anywhere across the frontline and of course has electric pace. I wouldn’t be surprised if when he does start, whether today or a later match, that he could well play as the central striker with Yoane Wissa in behind. Especially if William Osula is unavailable for a while. So I think the Newcastle team v Bournemouth will be a repeat of the Spurs match but great to see the options for Matthias Jaissle increasing.
