Thousands Turn Out to Welcome the Steelers The Steelers shirt launch and meet the players night turned out to be another huge success on Friday evening Almost 3,000 people attended the event at the arena, to see the Steelers brand new shirt, watch both the Steeldogs and Steelers welcomed onto the stage and then to meet many of the players and coaches for a photo and autograph. Before general admission the doors were open to the Beat Lounge where the clubs sponsors met to not only see the new facility for the first time but to mingle ahead of the event starting and to enjoy the arena hospitality. Dominic Cormier, Robbie Stucker and Ryan Tait paid a visit to the lounge to meet many of the sponsors For many it was the their first time inside the impressive new Beat Lounge Downstairs the doors had open and the queues had began not only to collect season tickets but to see the new range of Steelers shirts Word on the night and on social media afterwards was that you liked them, the Orange shirt had the loudest cheer of the night on stage. If you didn’t have the opportunity to buy one last night then visit the Steelers store at the arena or cluck HERE to buy now Time for the entertainment to start and live music. This year saw a new band perform for us, 4 young lads from Hull named Glasshouse The boys performed two 15 minute sets that went down well ahead of the teams being introduced out on stage. Every year the support for the DSM Sheffield Steeldogs increases and this shirt launch was no different with hundreds of their fans anxiously waiting to see their new 2026-27 side The biggest signing of the summer was that of super star goalie Shane Owen from the Fife Flyers, Shane was interviewed on stage and told us how coach Slava Koulikov had persuaded him to head down south and join the Steeldogs. The Steeldogs had a tremdous reception from both their own fans and the Steelers They left the stage to a huge applause, remember the Steeldogs are at home at Ice Sheffield on Sunday – Steeldogs Tickets HERE Immediately after the Steeldogs had left the stage we welcome club owner Tony Smith and Dean Foulks of our new title sponsors DSM. Dean explained how he wanted to work with the club to help Steelers fans have great “experiences” with the club and confirmed that he would be giving away team shirts and his VIP suite in the arena to fans as the year went on. Tony Smith confirmed the importance of having a strong, prominent name on both the Steelers and Steeldogs shirts home and away and thanked Dean for his commitment to both clubs. After Glasshouse had played their final set of the night it was time to welcome the new Steelers side of 2026-27 to the stage. First up was the ever present Steeler Dan, well it wouldn’t be the same without him Then player by player was introduced onto the stage The clubs three goalies first, Matt Greenfield, Curtis Warburton and the recently signed Lucas Brine. One by one the remaining players followed with great receptions for them all Ryan Tait, Big Ivan and of course captain Robert Dowd raising the roof The Ice Man, Mitchell Balmas and Olivier Archambault were the last guys on the stage before head coach Aaron Fox address the crowd. Aaron and his associate coach, Carter Beston Will spoke about the summer re building and their hopes for the new year Time to hit the concourse and grab some autographs on the back of the new shirts. Several of the players stayed down at ice level as the cameras and marker pens came out. WE HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT NIGHT AND THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR THE INCREDIBLE SUPPORT
