KARACHI: Sindh Police Sports Board has appointed former Pakistan cricket star Shahid Khan Afridi as its Sports Ambassador in recognition of his contribution to sports and his role in promoting positive activities among young people. A special ceremony was held to mark the occasion, which was attended by Sindh Inspector General Javed Alam Odho. During the event, Afridi was presented with a certificate confirming his appointment as Sports Ambassador of Sindh Police. The IG Sindh and Shahid Afridi also exchanged shields during the ceremony. Welcoming Afridi to his new role, Javed Alam Odho said his association with Sindh Police was an honour and would help strengthen efforts to promote sports within the police force. He said the promotion of sports has always remained among the priorities of Sindh Police, adding that support from the business community had also helped make the organization of sporting activities possible. According to the IG Sindh, the main objective of organizing sports activities is to encourage young people to participate in healthy and positive pursuits. He said sports help develop discipline, teamwork and a positive attitude among young people and can also play an important role in keeping them away from drugs and other negative activities. The appointment of Shahid Afridi as Sports Ambassador is expected to further strengthen Sindh Police’s initiatives for promoting sports and encouraging young people to engage in healthy and constructive activities.
