Andy Robertson reveals what Tottenham players have done with Roberto De Zerbi behind the scenes
Tottenham defender Andy Robertson has spoken about the draw with Getafe CF, overcoming jet lag and Roberto De Zerbi's coaching methods
Andy Robertson has revealed he has never experienced jet lag as bad as what he experienced following Tottenham's pre-season tour Down Under.
Spurs flew to the other side of the world last month and spent 10 days in New Zealand and Australia as Roberto De Zerbi put the players through their paces. While away, the Lilywhites were victorious against Auckland and Chelsea, while they also beat Sydney FC on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Robertson, who joined on a free transfer this summer after his contract at Liverpool expired, featured in the games against Sydney FC and Chelsea as he still gets to know his new teammates. The left-back also started Saturday's behind-closed-doors friendly against Getafe CF, which finished 1-1.

Conor Gallagher cancelled out Alberto Risco's opener at Hotspur Way and speaking after the match, Robertson insisted the 70-minute friendly was a "good test".
“It was tough,” the Scotland international told SPURSPLAY. “It's been a really tough week pre-season-wise. I think that's what some people don't see behind the scenes.
"We've been working hard this week, probably not a normal week preparing for a Saturday game. It was a good test and more minutes in the legs for all of us. We'll take the positives."
Robertson added that he has only just recovered from jet lag, with the players and management team putting in long hours on and off the pitch to try and get things right ahead of the 2026/27 season.
“Jet lag has been something I’ve never had like that before, that's for sure," Robertson said. "We were 11 hours ahead in New Zealand and nine hours ahead in Australia, so we needed a couple of days to adapt.
“We've also been doing long days. In the meeting room, the manager is trying to drill home what he wants us to do and how he wants us to play. We've been long hours on the pitch. That's what you need to do in pre-season.
“When it comes to the game [against Getafe], you're probably a little bit leggy and a little bit mentally tired as well, but we had to get through it and I think we did. I don't think it was the prettiest and probably not the greatest of games, but it will stand us in good stead."
