Kayne van Oevelen could already be heading out of Ipswich Town, just weeks after arriving at Portman Road. A loan exit is now being considered to ensure the goalkeeper gets regular football this season. That is according to Levante-EMV on Tuesday, explaining that Valencia have revived their interest in the 23-year-old. The Spanish club wanted Van Oevelen earlier this summer and even reached a contractual agreement with him until June 2031. Ipswich then stepped in and changed the situation. They paid FC Volendam the requested €4m (£3.5m), twice the €2m (£1.7m) limit Valencia had set for the deal. Ipswich Town considering quick loan exit Kayne van Oevelen’s situation has developed quickly during pre-season. Levante-EMV says most of his minutes have come as a substitute. Ipswich are therefore considering sending him on loan so he can play regularly. The goalkeeper’s camp is open to that possibility, and Valencia are specifically named as one potential destination. A temporary deal would also make much more financial sense for the Spanish side. There would be no transfer fee, while Ipswich could cover part of Van Oevelen’s wages. Valencia have already contacted his representatives to explore whether a loan can be done. The newspaper says the goalkeeper was the option which generated the most agreement between Valencia’s coaching staff and sporting department earlier this summer. They believe his physical qualities and potential could even allow him to challenge Stole Dimitrievski for the starting position. Scherpen situation explains Ipswich thinking There is also some useful context behind Ipswich Town considering such a quick departure. Kjell Scherpen arrived this summer as well, and the Premier League newcomers paid €8m (£7m) for the 26-year-old. The Dutchman just recently made it clear he expects to start the season as Ipswich’s first-choice goalkeeper. He also revealed he and Van Oevelen had already spoken about their respective situations. Now Levante-EMV confirmed Scherpen is expected to start ahead of his younger compatriot. So Ipswich want Van Oevelen playing more than he currently would at Portman Road. Valencia does not have a clear path, though. Ipswich would reportedly prefer a Championship destination, believing another spell in England would better prepare Van Oevelen for British football. For now, Valencia are seriously considering making their move. But what looked completely dead when Ipswich signed Van Oevelen at the end of July is suddenly an option again.
