After four years with the Wolves, Dzenan Pejcinovic is saying goodbye: VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart have agreed on the immediate transfer of the 21-year-old VfL forward. “We would very much have liked Dzenan to be part of the journey ahead of us. Losing him is a blow both on and off the pitch,” said VfL managing director Dieter Hecking. “It was Dzenan’s clear wish to make a change. We wish him all the best in Stuttgart and will continue to follow his development.” “Not a decision against VfL” “My desire to join VfB Stuttgart is not a decision against VfL Wolfsburg. I’ve felt very much at home both at the club and in the city, and I’ll always remember my time here, with all its highs and lows,” said Dzenan Pejcinovic. “However, I now see an opportunity to take the next step in my career and continue my development at a top club competing in the Champions League. I’d like to thank those in charge at VfL Wolfsburg for giving me this opportunity. I wish the team, the coaches and staff, as well as everyone working at the club, nothing but the best.” Twelve goals for the first team, 36 for the U19s Pejcinovic joined the Wolves from FC Augsburg’s youth set-up in summer 2022. During his four years at the Allerpark, which were interrupted by a season-long loan spell at then second-tier side Fortuna Düsseldorf, he made 39 competitive appearances for the Green-and-Whites’ first team in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and relegation play-offs, scoring twelve goals. He also netted 36 times in 38 appearances for VfL’s U19s. The Munich-born forward did not feature in Saturday’s opening second-tier fixture against Kaiserslautern.
