The College Football world is in shock after a TCU player (now former) turned himself into authorities after he sent his own teammate to the ICU. According to ESPN and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jacob Fields, a former Horned Frogs safety, was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury after punching and kicking wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma. After a recovery day, Ezukanma was sitting in the locker room around 1:30 p.m. local time when Fields allegedly approached and “struck the victim in the forehead with his closed fist,” causing him “to fall to the ground.” This according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram. Fields then allegedly kicked Ezukanma in the head, the witness said, according to the arrest warrant affidavit. Ezukanma sought medical attention at the school and a team doctor advised that he have a CT scan to make sure he didn’t have a brain bleed. Curtis Talley Jr., a sports trainer for the football team and referred to as CJ in the affidavit, drove Ezukanma to the emergency room after the athlete said his ears were ringing. CJ told authorities that Ezukanma was given a CT scan at the hospital and the results came back saying he had a brain bleed, per the document. A second scan showed that Ezukanma’s bleed had grown after he was transferred to the ICU. He was then administered blood pressure and pain control medications, according to the document. Ezukanma was stable after a third CT scan. Three days after the alleged incident, he was released from the hospital. A report of the assault wasn’t received by campus police until a day after it happened. The reporting party “wanted to relay information regarding an altercation that occurred in the men’s locker room yesterday, Aug. 13, 2026, at approximately 13:30 hours,” according to a police report obtained by the Star-Telegram last week.
