Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has thanked Bayer Leverkusen supporters for their backing after the German club secured a 2-1 pre-season victory over Sevilla at the BayArena. Boniface was introduced from the bench during the second half as Leverkusen came from behind to defeat the Spanish side in their pre-season fixture. Sevilla took the lead through Miguel Sierra before Patrik Schick turned the game around with a second-half brace to give Leverkusen victory. Following the game, Boniface was asked about the reaction from the Leverkusen fans, who loudly chanted his name during the encounter. The Nigeria international expressed his appreciation for the supporters, stressing that their backing has remained important to him during difficult and positive moments. “I thank them for their support. They have been supporting me in the good times and the bad times, and I really, really appreciate this,” he told the club’s media. Boniface further explained that the support from supporters is something players need, adding that he had already received messages of encouragement before the match. “You know, this is what we, as players, need. We need the support from them, and I'm really happy. I saw it even before the game, like, I received a lot of messages of support, and everything and I feel, I feel grateful. I feel blessed, and I thank everyone of them.” After an injury-disrupted 2025/26 season, Boniface has made an encouraging return in pre-season and is gradually rebuilding his sharpness ahead of the new campaign.
