Newcastle United have made an offer to Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, but the German side are not concerned about the interest.
Sky Germany report on the situation today and how things have become a bit quieter around the Germany international despite the Magpies interest in him.
€120m asking price
Felix Nmecha is one of the rising stars in German football after impressing with Borussia Dortmund last season. That continued at the World Cup, where he shone for Germany despite their disappointing early exit.
Reports have linked him with a move to the Premier League for a while. While at first it was Manchester United at the front of the queue, that has now changed. Now, reports indicate Newcastle are the leading candidates.
Sport Witness covered a report last week indicating that the Magpies intend to make a bid for the 25-year-old.
They need to rebuild their midfield following the departures of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes to Tottenham and Arsenal. They seemingly see Nmecha as the ideal candidate.
Newcastle United hesitate
But according to Sky Germany’s information, there is nothing moving on that front at this moment in time. That, it seems, is due to Dortmund’s €120m asking price for their prized asset.
“They have made him an offer,” their journalist reports in a video segment.
“But BVB, they are staying cool for now. Lately, things have become a bit quieter around Nmecha. This is also due to the high price tag of the Dortmunders, who would be willing to talk at a sum of around €120m.
“Newcastle has never paid so much money for a new signing, which is why there’s this calm at BVB.
“According to our information, it is also highly questionable whether Nmecha wants to move to Newcastle United. While that is an exciting project, but they don’t play internationally unlike BVB.”
