The Minnesota Timberwolves have been extremely active in free agency and throughout the offseason. Minnesota is building a championship-caliber roster around Anthony Edwards after falling short over the past couple of seasons. On Friday morning, the team officially announced the signing of Jonathan Kuminga. “The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has signed. forward Jonathan Kuminga. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released. Kuminga, 23, wrapped up his fifth season in the NBA, splitting time between the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors after being traded to the Hawks on Feb. 5,” the organization wrote. “Kuminga will wear #24 for the Timberwolves.” With Kuminga now officially signed, Minnesota has one roster spot remaining. The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski reported that the Timberwolves have interest in bringing back former All-Star Kevin Love. “From what I understand, Kevin Love is open to coming back to Minnesota," said Krawczynski on a recent episode of his Jon Krawczynski Show podcast. "I do think the Wolves have some interest in bringing him back as well. It would just be a phenomenal story if the Wolves did decide to fill that spot, and they did it with Kevin Love." Love began his career with the Timberwolves, and now he could have an opportunity to finish it in Minnesota. He would also provide an intriguing final piece to this year's roster. “The Minnesota Timberwolves have an open roster spot at the end of the bench and some believe it would be perfect for Kevin Love. The former All-Star is on the back end of his career, and with a team looking for veteran leadership, Love would be a great addition to guide the Wolves into next season,” Dunking With Wolves’ Chris Schad wrote. This would be a special homecoming for Love and could give him the opportunity to finish his career where it all began. He is a five-time All-Star and a former NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers, giving him valuable experience that could benefit Minnesota's younger players. Love has made $277 million throughout his career. Returning to the place where his NBA journey began and serving as a mentor to younger players could be the perfect way to close out his career. For a team with championship aspirations, having an experienced veteran who understands what it takes to win at the highest level can be invaluable. Love could bring exactly that to a Timberwolves team looking to take the next step.
