Sunderland cannot be criticised for a lack of persistence with their efforts to sign Dayann Methalie from Toulouse this summer. Nearly two weeks ago, the Premier League club were offering around €25m. This came after Sunderland had managed to convince the 20-year-old left back to snub AC Milan in favour of them. The Black Cats had pitched Methalie on providing a better opportunity to showcase himself for the French national side. Those international ambitions are partly behind the choice of Sunderland. Fourth offer arrives from Sunderland On Monday afternoon, L’Equipe report Sunderland have now made their fourth offer for Dayann Methalie. The previous three were rejected and it was earlier start Toulouse were looking for something over €30m. Sunderland’s latest offer is €33m, so therefore it’s been accepted… right?! No, Toulouse have again asked for more, despite €33m being enough to break their transfer record. The Premier League club remain determined, and it would appear Toulouse are working to take advantage of that. Their asking price has now gone from something near €30m to €35m. The assumption would be if Sunderland are as convinced on the player as they appear, the extra €2m should arrive. Next try surely last one for Black Cats Sunderland offering that €35m is a likely scenario, however, that may be the last effort. Toulouse are moving the transfer goalposts around Dayann Methalie, and there will come a time that Regis Le Bris and his side walk away.
